Cloudy brain – when you feel more like a wild zombie than a wild human.
Goodbye clarity – Hello cloudy brain
Most of us have found ourselves with cloudy brain (aka brain fog) at some point in our lives.
Our focus eludes us and we experience a serious lack of mental clarity. Confusion, forgetfulness and idiocy have taken their place.
It feels as though a cloud is interrupting the usual blue skies preventing our cycle of thoughts from performing optimally.
We ponder the cause and await its departure as a sprinter awaits the bang of the gun.
The man-made, man-altered environment can contribute to cloudy brain
Lifestyle choices such as how we nourish the body, our sleep patterns, and our lack of movement can contribute to cloudy brain.
Sometimes however the fault lies not with us but with our environment.
We are living in a polluted age where everything from the carpets we walk on to the water we drink contain pollutants which are far from ideal as far as health is concerned.
The tribesman was lucky that he never had this problem. He was fortunate enough to exist in a pristine environment.
Our indoor environments are many times more polluted than current natural/semi natural spaces.
So, when we have cloudy brain we must look to nature for the cure.
Fresh air can clear a cloudy brain
Indoor air is stale. Although not as perfect as it once was the natural world provides the freshest air one can find.
When we breathe, we detoxify and improve the quality of our blood.
Breathing can help calm and rewild the mind. It can also help clear a cloudy brain.
Just as the wind moves the clouds in the sky, breathing can shift those clouds in our heads.
Find a spot in nature and simply breathe. Feel clarity returning with every breath you take.
Sunlight will help combat a cloudy brain
The effects of sun exposure are outstanding. When our eyes receive light, they will quickly signal the brain that itβs time to wake up.
When you are breathing that fresh air enjoy those rays simultaneously. Sunlight is an instant happiness booster.
When our mood improves the storm in our brains will begin to pass. Grey will give way to blue and our zen like focus will shine through the clouds.
Sunlight also improves our sleep which will prevent cloudy brain in the future.
Move through the natural environment
When we move through a natural environment the brain has to work more as there is an almost limitless number of variables for the brain to process.
Think about it. No trail is ever the same. No step the same as the last. Every single one is unique and requires tiny micro adjustments in the bodies alignment to keep us balanced.
This coupled with blood pumping at a faster rate providing the brain with the oxygen it needs helps dissipate cloudy brain in no time.
You can combine fresh air, sunlight and movement all at the same time by simply finding a natural space to enjoy.
